Core Concept
The core idea of Atomic Habits is that habit change doesn’t need to be dramatic—just improve 1% every day.
The Four Laws of Behavior Change
1. Make It Obvious
Change your environment to make the cues for good habits more visible. Want to read more? Put a book on your pillow.
2. Make It Attractive
Bundle habits you want with activities you enjoy.
3. Make It Easy
The Two-Minute Rule: Scale any habit down to two minutes to start.
4. Make It Satisfying
Give yourself immediate rewards to create positive feedback loops.
My Experience
I used this method to build a daily 30-minute reading habit:
- Put book by my bed (obvious)
- Read before sleep as relaxation (attractive)
- Start with just 5 minutes (easy)
- Track progress in a reading app (satisfying)
Summary
Change doesn’t have to be earth-shattering. Continuous small improvements will eventually lead to transformation.
